RISEDESK Skye Ergonomic Office Chair Review
With work from home being the norm, are you looking to invest in a mid tier ergonomic office chair to upgrade your home office?
Herman Millers are the most well known for making ergo office chair but their chairs costs anywhere from $1000-2500 making it cost prohibited for most.
Along comes Risedesk offering two ergo chairs. Their base ergo chair that costs $445 and their Skye ergo chairhair which costs a little more depending on what material you go with ($545 for mesh, and $645 for Memory Foam). There are some extra adjustability and material options with the premium chair. The one I tested is the mesh material version of their Skye ergo chair.

ASSEMBLY
Assembly is easy to do yourself without any power tools.
Arm rests get screwed onto the seat. The armrest are labeled L/R to help identify which side it should be but I wish the base of the seat also had L/R labelling to make it easier to mount it correctly. I realized afterwards I had done it backwards so take a close look at the instruction diagrams to save yourself having to redo it like me.
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE RISEDESK Skye Ergonomic Office Chair:
I also own Effydesk’s Aery Ergo Chair which I’ll be comparing with Risedesk’s product. When I first sat in the Skye chair I immediately noticed a difference.
The seat, backrest & headrest is firmer in the Skye chair. A chair’s firmness level is a personal preference so you won’t really know if it works for you until giving it a try. They offer a 30 day money back guarantee if you don’t love it!
Risedesk’s Skye and Effydesk’s Aery have some slight differences in what’s adjustable. In the Skye, the entire backrest piece can step up and down. In Aery, the armrest can slide wider.
The seat width, and distance between the inner armrest is 2 inches shorter. I’m 210 lbs with waist length of 40”. If you’re much larger than me then you’ll want to opt for a chair with a wider frame. It’s rated to support up to 350 lbs but I’m pretty sure someone over 250 lbs would have a hard time fitting in-between the arm rest. Depending on your body type having the armrest in the Aery might be a desirable feature.
Overall, I’ve grown to love this chair a lot. It’s my daily driver because I switch between the desk setup in the photo above by the window to my other desk in the den. The width to get an office chair is tight in the den so having a slimmer chair makes it easier to use the same chair at both desks. My wife has been sitting in this chair lately and has mentioned she likes it more because it is firmer so maybe we’ll need to purchase a second chair.
