2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63

 
 

For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2021 Mercedes GLS63. This is a mild hybrid design with a 21HP electric motor pancaked between the engine and transmission.

ACCELERATION: 10/10

  • 4.0L TT V8
    603 HP / 627 lb-ft

  • 9-Speed Auto EQ Boost

  • 3.7 second 0-100 km/hr

  • 21HP electric motor helps the engine get started from a complete stop making auto stop and start much smoother. It will also torque fill to help the overall feel on the road. It will also help shut down the engine as you’re rolling up to a stop light.

BRAKING: 9.5/10

  • 108ft to stop from 100 km to 0 which is really impressive for something so large and heavy.

HANDLING: 9.5/10

  • If you compare this to any large SUV, the handling is really good even though suspension is tuned with comfort in mind

RIDE: 8.5/10

  • Has a nice comfortable feel.

ECONOMY: 7.5/10

  • 13/18/15 MPG (City/Highway/Combined)

CABIN NOISE: 8.5/10

  • Wide tires have an impact on cabin noise but still very well controlled

EXTERIOR: 9/10

  • Very stylish and luxurious looking

  • Love the monoblock wheels

INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 9.5/10

  • As expected the front seats are fantastically comfortable and also massage

  • Digital gauges are highly customizable to display all kinds of information

INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 9.5/10

  • GLS is enormous on the inside. Take a look at the legroom and headroom numbers below

  • With so much legroom you can portion the 2nd row to give plenty of legroom for those in the 3rd row

  • 17.4 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space with all seats up

  • Extra storage space under the floor cover

  • 2nd and 3rd row are power folding with a button in the trunk cargo area. The head rest get retracted automatically.

  • Has a button to modify the air suspension to lower the vehicle and make cargo loading easier

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2021 Mercedes Benz GLS63:

The 2021 Mercedes AMG GLS63 high performance luxury living room on wheels. This is for someone who is looking for a large 3 row SUV with all the power/luxury/tech goodies on the inside and willing to pay S-class prices.
