2021 Mercedes AMG E63S Wagon

For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2021 Mercedes AMG ES63. This is a mild hybrid platform with a 21HP electric motor pancaked between the engine and transmission.

Disclosure: Mercedes Benz Canada provided me with the 2021 E63S for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #MercedesAMGE63S

ACCELERATION: 10/10

  • 4.0L TT V8
    603 HP / 627 lb-ft

  • 9-Speed AMG Speedshift MCT

  • 3 second 0-100 km/hr

  • AWD that’s rear wheel bias

HANDLING: 10/10

  • Handling is so good, you’ll be able to run down supercars at the track in this boat

RIDE: 8.5/10

  • Has a nice comfortable feel when driving in the city but can stiffen up for a day at the track

ECONOMY: 7.5/10

  • 16/23/19 MPG (City/Highway/Combined)

CABIN NOISE: 8.5/10

  • Wide tires have an impact on cabin noise but still very well controlled

EXTERIOR: 9/10

  • Body has been refreshed. Looks classy and stays under the radar compared to the RS.

INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 9.5/10

  • Front seat comfort is excellent and front passenger seat has the same range of motion

  • Front seats are heated, ventilated and massaging

  • Has a new style steering wheel. I’m a bit on the fence since it has a lot piano black and material is a bit slippery. I still prefer the old style but maybe with more time it will grow on me

INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 9.5/10

  • Soft close doors could be a benefit for those who are putting a sleeping baby into the car and want to close the door quietly

  • Has a lot of practical space to haul your family and pets

INTERIOR STORAGE: 9/10

  • 23 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space with all seats up

  • 64 Cu Ft with seats down

  • Has storage capacity like a SUV

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2021 Mercedes Benz E63s:

If I can only have one car and money is no obstacle then the 2021 Mercedes AMG E63S Wagon is my pick. It can haul a family, suv practicality, drive like it’s on rails, accelerates like a supercar and pampers you like at a 5 star resort.

The acceleration and handling can intimidate and challenge exotic supercars leaving opponents stunned. I’m blown away how amazing this car is to drive. It lives up to the legend of the hammer wagon. The highlight of this is most people will never know what you’re driving.

The only thing is it’s very expensive and most people can’t afford one.
