2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country

For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country. This is a lifted wagon with more rugged look to the exterior making it functional on adventures while being a practical for the family and drive like a car. For 2022 it switches to a new B6 powertrain.

Disclosure: Volvo Canada provided me with the 2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #VolvoV90CrossCountry

INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 9/10

The interior cabin is really luxurious, comfortable and well designed. The transition to a Google Android Infotainment system has it’s pros and cons. Google Maps and Google Assistant work great however the menu system is very confusing to use.

Like all Volvo’s I have the same 2 pet peeves.

1) The camera system can only show one angle at a time. I like having a split screen to see the 360 view paired with a front or rear camera. With such a huge tablet display it would be convenient to have this feature.
2) The fuel gauge cluster has no arrow to let you know which side of the car the pump needs to be.

  • Tilt/telescopic column with a good range of motion

  • 4-way lumbar support

  • 2-position memory

INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 8/10

  • Headroom is fantastic but the legroom is average in the class.

  • Rear seats fold in a 60/40 fashion with a ski pass through

  • Rear passengers have rear climate controls from the centre console

INTERIOR STORAGE:9/10

  • 26 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space

  • If we lift up the load floor we have a spare tire but unfortunately it’s not a regular size one. For a vehicle meant for off-roading I would have preferred a full size tire.

  • Power lift trunk

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2022 Volvo v90 cross country:

The 2022 Volvo V90 Cross Country is the best car nobody buys. It gives you the practicality of a crossover but rides and drives like a sedan. If I could only own one vehicle, it would be a lifted wagon like this. It is the perfect wagon for car geeks to tackle light off-road situations in a deluxe cabin lined soft leather and real wood. Unfortunately when looking at sales number in North America, majority of consumers don’t care about wagons but I’m glad Volvo continues to make these!
