2022 Volvo XC60 B6 AWD
For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2022 Volvo XC60 B6 AWD. Volvo gives their best selling vehicle the XC60 a face lift, new tech and mild hybrid powertrain! It utilizes a 48V hybrid system that helps with a more refined driving experience, better acceleration, more efficient fuel consumption and reduced emissions. It now uses a Google Android infotainment system and Google maps is well implemented!
Disclosure: Volvo Canada provided me with the 2022 Volvo XC60 for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #VolvoXC60
INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 8/10
The interior cabin is really luxurious, comfortable and well designed. The transition to a Google Android Infotainment system has it’s pros and cons. Google Maps and Google Assistant work great however the menu system is very confusing to use.
The heated seats would sometimes turn on automatically after I start the car even after I turned it off. I think it must be triggered by the environment temperature but I couldn’t find it in the system to disable that automatic feature. The infotainment is a step back from what they had before and will drive you nuts!
Tilt/telescopic column with a good range of motion
The advanced air cleaner is the world-first air quality system prevents up to 95 per cent of hazardous PM 2.5 particles entering the cabin. This can help you and your passengers enjoy better and healthier air quality, no matter the conditions outside.
Like all Volvo’s I have the same 2 pet peeves.
1) The camera system can only show one angle at a time. I like having a split screen to see the 360 view paired with a front or rear camera. With such a huge tablet display it would be convenient to have this feature.
2) The fuel gauge cluster has no arrow to let you know which side of the car the pump needs to be.
INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 8/10
Rear seats fold in a 60/40 fashion with a ski pass through
Rear passengers have rear climate controls from the centre console
INTERIOR STORAGE: 7.5/10
20.4 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space
If we lift up the load floor we get an extra 2.2 Cu. Ft.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2022 Volvo XC60 B6 AWD:
The 2022 Volvo XC60 is a nice looking vehicle that’s nice to drive. The mild hybrid smooths out gear changes. Volvo proves that you can have stuff that looks more traditional without it being over-styled or under-styled but still has a timeless good look. The Bower and Wilkins audio system is has great frequency response resulting in a clean sound.
The Google Infotainment is all new so there is room for improvement but hopefully you can get updates as they refine the system. It’s not intuitive to use and doesn’t have AM radio by default. You’ll have to install a third party app. With 1-2 you’ll learn where everything is and setup the vehicle the way you want it. I still want the ability to see multiple camera views simultaneously which isn’t possible.
Volvo is often over looked for German options with luxury buyers but I would still recommend giving it a test drive if you’re shopping for a SUV
