2021 Mercedes Benz GLC300
For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2021 Mercedes GLC300. With this model expecting a re-design in 2022 is it still worth getting this years model or waiting for the next gen?
Disclosure: Mercedes Benz Canada provided me with the 2021 GLC300 for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #MercedesBenzGLC300
ACCELERATION: 8.5/10
2.0L inline-4 turbo
255 HP / 273 lb-ft9-Speed Auto
5.4 second 0-100 km/hr
Considering this is the slowest engine for the GLC the 0-100 time is really impressive. If you want something faster Mercedes has a couple engine options.
BRAKING: 9.5/10
109ft to stop from 100 km to 0 which is very short thanks to it’s wider tires. This is really good considering it’s not a performance model
HANDLING: 9/10
Handles like it’s a car that’s been lifted instead of SUV. I think it handles better than the BMW X3.
RIDE: 7/10
Driving on pavement it’s pretty comfortable in comfort mode but it’s a bit firm on gravel roads.
ECONOMY: 8/10
21/28/24 MPG (City/Highway/Combined)
CABIN NOISE: 8/10
Pretty quiet overall
EXTERIOR: 8.5/10
Very stylish and luxurious looking
INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 8/10
The way everything feels is top notch
Burmester audio system is really good
Infontainment is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition except for maybe BMW
Digital instrument cluster has good functionality
Cabin is super quiet and refined while driving. It’s everything I expect it to be for a luxury SUV.
INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 7.5/10
Front row passenger seats has the exact same range of motion as the driver seat!
Despite being on the lower end of the class for leg room there is still feels plenty of room in the rear
40/20/40 folding seats makes it much easier to carry long items like skis while carrying 4 passengers
Combined Legroom:
80.7 - XT5
80.0 - RDX
79.5 = XC60
79.3 - Discovery Sport
78.9 - NX
78.7 - Q5
78.3 - QX50
78.1 - GLC300
78.7 - X3
Rear Headroom:
39.6 - GLC300
39.3 - Q5
39.1 - QX50
39.1 - X3
38.7 - Discovery Sport
38.1 - NX
38.0 - RDX
38.0 - XC60
36.0 - XT5
INTERIOR STORAGE: 8.5/10
19.4 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space
Trunk is carpeted. It can help dampen echo noise which is nice but if you have pets it may be a fur magnet.
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC300:
The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC300 does not disappoint. If you’re looking for a luxury SUV this is the ideal candidate. It’s not too big and not too small. As expected from a luxury vehicle it’s quiet, comfortable and refined while looking very stylish. It feels really good to drive given how soft and quiet it is. If you’re a fan of Mercedes branding and style you’ll love it.
