2019 Infiniti QX60 AWD

For this week’s review we’ve gotten our hands on the 2019 Infiniti QX60 AWD. There are no significant changes since the vehicle was introduced in 2014 but since it’s our first time in it let’s take a look to see if the vehicle has aged gracefully.

Disclosure: Infiniti Canada provided me with the 2019 Infiniti QX60 for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #InfinitiQX60

ACCELERATION: 7.5/10

  • 3.5L V6 - 295 HP @ 6400 & 270 lb-ft @ 6400

  • CVT

  • AWD

  • Acceleration is satisfying

  • 7.6 second 0-100 km/hr

BRAKING: 7/10

  • Average stopping score due to it’s heavy curb weight

HANDLING: 7/10

  • Not tuned for performance in mind with it’s soft suspensions and numb steering.

RIDE: 9/10

  • Soft suspensions are tuned to make the ride comfortable and quiet for all the passengers you’ll be hauling

ECONOMY: 8/10

  • 19/26/22- City/Highway/Combined (3.5 AWD)

  • The fuel economy is respectable for a 3 row family hauler

CABIN NOISE: 8/10

  • Sound control is good unless you really start to push the engine.

EXTERIOR: 7/10

  • It looks fine but won’t be a head turner as this design has been around for a while. It’s kind of got a mini-van feel the more I look at it from the rear 3/4 view

INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 7.5/10

  • Smooth, quiet and comfortable. Overall is a nice place to sit.

  • 8 way power front front seats for driver but rival luxury brands are offering up to 14-ways of adjustment in it’s main competitor the Acura MDX.

  • Analog instrument cluster and small infotainment screen doesn’t feel like a luxury vehicle with other brands moving towards higher resolution, wider screens, and all digital instrument cluster.

INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 7/10

  • 6-way power passenger front seat but competiting rivals have 12-way.

  • 2nd row doesn’t have Captain’s chair which is offered in rivals as an upgrade. That being said the 2nd row has tons of room!

  • 3rd row is a bit tight with headroom for adult, but the legroom is pretty nice!

  • Nice to have a sunroof in the back to let in more light for rear passengers.

INTERIOR STORAGE: 8/10

  • 16 Cu Ft of storage behind the 3rd row seats which is a little bit more than it’s main competitor the MDX

INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM: 5/10

  • Outdated infotainment, and comes with 1 screen instead of the dual stack screens as seen in other vehicles in the line up

  • No Android Auto or Apple Car Play support

  • Infotainment is something users interact with every day and it’s something that needs a major overhaul in all their vehicles

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2019 infiniti QX60 AWD:

Infiniti’s QX60 has the standard qualities for hauling families over long distances with it’s quiet, smooth, comfortable and roomy cabin. It does it’s job to keep passengers feeling comfy. If you don’t need the modern tech or sporty driving dynamics like in the rival vehicles then this may be the ride for you.

Since the QX60 is geared to be a family hauler, it would have been nice to see driving aids and safety features offered standard when their main competitor Acura is doing that.

A redesign is probably on it’s way so I would wait to see how that looks if you’re craving for features offered from rivals.
