Holi Masala is a food truck serving fast, creative and visually vibrant Indian food with a modern twist like Indian style sliders, poutine, tacos and wraps. They also serve traditional style dishes too if the modern thing isn't up your alley. Their hours of location is usually from 11 am - 2:30 pm Mon-Fri on the North East side of Georgia and Seymour. Be sure to check social media for their current location and hours as it could change anytime.

WHAT WE TRIED:

  • Butter Chicken Combo | $13

  • Lamb Curry | $12

  • Tandoori Chicken Sliders+Masala Fries | $11

  • Butter Chicken Poutine | $10

  • Chai | $2

The fries are covered with a Masala spice making them orange. By themselves they are delicious! They cover it with butter chicken sauce. They use paneer as a substituion to cheese curds. It works well with this dish. Overall this dish is packed with flavour for those who prefer strong taste.

Note: This is a pretty heavy dish for lunch. You may be in a food coma the rest of the afternoon back at work! If you ask them, they may also substitute the yoga salad with some Masala fries if you want a small portion.

The Lamb Curry comes with a colourful salad, and basmati pea rice. The curry has lots of flavour without being very spicy. The portions on this is a good size for lunch. If you're hungry you can upgrade to a combo for $2 more which comes with naan and channa masala (chick peas)

The dish on the left isn't always available. They often have special items that show up on a rotational menu. I wanted to try something new but personally without having any meat it didn't feel like a satisfying lunch although that curry had a lot of flavour.

The butter chicken combo on the right is my go to order as it has a little bit of everything I like for $12. All the flavours are working well but my only feedback is the temperature. I find sometimes when I show up late in the day like close to 2 pm, the butter chicken sauce and channa masala sauce isn't hot. It's kinda like room temperature. They may have turned off the heaters since they close at 2:30 pm. This is one of their fastest dishes as everything is already prepped in big batches and all they have to do is scoop it out for you. When I'm in a rush, but still want to have a tasty meal this is what I order.

You can't miss this food truck! It's like look it got hit with a rainbow of paintball rounds.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF HOLI MASALA:

Holi Masala is usually located in the downtown core and provides Indian street food with a modern twist. For those of us busy working downtown, the team here delivers on getting your order complete fast without the rush attitude to move onto the next customer. They have excellent customer service and flavourful food. The price is very affordable for downtown ranging from $8-14 and portions are always good enough for us. This is a food truck we will come again with friends. I have not had a single co-worker tell me they didn't like it! If there is anything you love at Holi Masala and think we should try it next time, feel free to contact us!

The Bad:

  • Sometimes runs out of stock for certain items. Come early to avoid this.

The Good:

  • Fast, and friendly service

  • Tasty and affordable
